SEED Fellowship Qualifications

As an APL-UW SEED Fellow, you will...

  • Define you own research program in conjunction with an APL-UW principal investigator
  • Collaborate with scientists and students across the UW campus as well as other research universities
  • Have a balance of autonomy in performing as your own principal investigator while being provided guidance and mentorship by an APL-UW principal investigator
  • Be motivated and prepared to pursue independent research funding at the end of the 2-year fellowship period*

* Promotional and further developmental opportunities following the completion of the post doc appointment are possible subject to availability of funds and the demonstration of an interest in developing independent research initiatives during the course of the post doc appointment.

You meet our qualifications if you have...

  • Doctoral degree field related to APL-UW research. Some of these include Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil & Environmental, Material Science, Computer, & Bio-), Geophysics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Oceanography; or other related fields with interests in the core APL research.
  • No more than 36 months inclusive of all postdoctoral experiences in order to fulfill the 2-year requirement.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective problem solving/critical thinking skills.
